Thank you for your interest in supporting our solar work in Burma.

First, allow us to quickly review our recent work on the Thai/Burma border. The project we just completed provided solar power for a medical/training facility, as well as a computer training center, operated by Free Burma Rangers in the Karen State. Free Burma Rangers has trained over 110 multi-ethnic relief teams and there are 43 full-time teams active in the Karen, Karenni, Shan, Arakan, and Lahu areas of Burma. The teams have conducted over 350 humanitarian missions of 1 to 2 months into the war zones of Burma. On average, between 1000 and 2000 patients are treated per mission. Recently, seven more teams have been formed in the Chin area on the Indian border. Click here to view a thank you video from Free Burma Rangers.

For our hopeful projects in 2010, there are numerous candidates that require energy.   All are related to health and education.  There are many more clinics that have opened up to the north of where we were working where the junta’s efforts have been accelerated.  Additionally, throughout the area, FBR is now working with at least 20 schools that need lighting at night.    There is really no limit to the number of systems that are needed.   We just do what we can.   Since we do this work modularly, we will be do whatever is possible with the funds that are raised.  We are hoping to raise between $75,000 and $90,000 this year to be able to complete both clinics and schools next year.

Additionally, on the India/Burma border, we hope to replicate the work we have been doing since 2000 on the Thai side for the remote clinics.

We are grateful for any tax-deductible donations to this coming year’s projects.
